Christian Atsu's Family Worried Over Whereabouts of Player 24 Hours After Rescue

Family and representatives of Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu are yet to establish contact with the player following his rescue after a devastating earthquake in Turkey.

The Hatayspor forward was reportedly pulled out a of a wreckage alive several hours after he was trapped under rubble.

Vice president of the club, Mustapha Ozat confirmed the news on Tuesday, stating the player has been rushed to the hospital.

“It’s good news but we’re following his condition because, when someone is rescued from under rubble, it means he hasn’t eaten or drank anything," Turkish journalist, Yagiz Sabuncuoglu told myjoyonline.com.

“So the person’s condition is very important after the rescue. That’s why we’re following up with the hospital.”

However, the player's agent Nana Sekyere claims the player is yet to be found after efforts to reach the club proved futile.

“No club official or hospital staff have been able to confirm his presence in any hospital in Hatya or a neighbouring country, we are still searching for him, so are very concerned. It’s 24 hours since it was reported he’s alive, however, he has not been seen in any hospital," he told Joy FM in Accra.

“I am speaking to everybody; I am in direct contact with everybody at Hatayspor, I am also in contact with the Ghana and British consulates in Turkey and the Turkish football association.”

Atsu, who joined Hatayspor in September 2022, was the match hero on Sunday, coming off the bench to net a last minute freekick.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu has reportedly been found alive after hours of being buried under rubble, following the earthquake that hit Turkey.

The 31-year-old went missing after disaster hit the province of Hatay on Monday morning, just hours after he scored the winner in Hatayaspor's game against Kasimpasa.

The winger and the club's Sporting Director, Taner Savut were trapped under the wreckage after the building they were living in collapsed.
