Speaking to FIVE, as quoted by Metro UK, the Newcastle United defender has put his compatriot ahead of Ghanaian midfielder and Manchester United star Casemiro.
‘Declan… Declan’s unbelievable. Probably one of the best in the world in what he does,’ he said when asked to choose between Rice and his former Atletico Madrid teammate.
‘Yes,’ when asked if Rice is ahead of Casemiro. ‘Don’t get me wrong, Casemiro, the trophies he’s won, the Champions Leagues, of course, he’s a world-class player, but if you’re talking right now, Dec is incredible, he’s got the age as well.’ he added.

Declan Rice is a former Chelsea academy player and is best friends with Mason Mount, who has won the UEFA Champions League with the Blues.
This is one of the things that has prompted him to have his sights set on a move away from West Ham to be able to compete for the top trophies, as earlier reported by Sports Brief.
He made this statement during the World Cup and has not changed his mind. West Ham already resigned to losing him in the summer but wants a massive fee to part ways.
