David de Gea has suggested new Manchester United signing Marcel Sabitzer has what it takes to fill the void left by Casemiro.

According to The Mirror, Casemiro's absence is expected to deal Man United a massive blow, with the club already without Christian Eriksen, who is currently out injured.

De Gea praises Sabitzer

However, De Gea is confident the Red Devils can withstand the absence of the duo, thanks to the club's squad depth.

The Spanish goalkeeper went on to suggest that Sabitzer, who joined United on loan from Bayern Munich, can potentially replace Casemiro in the interim.

"It's going to be tough for sure. We already lost Christian [Eriksen], now Casemiro, big players for us," the Mirror quoted De Gea saying.
"But we have a bigger squad, players are ready to play, and everyone is really focused. Sabitzer showed already, he played 15 to 20 minutes and he did really well, made some good tackles, he is good with the ball, and everyone is ready to play," he added.

Sabitzer made his Man United cameo with 16 minutes left after Casemiro had been handed his marching orders.

Sports Brief has also reported that a fierce debate has emerged online on whether Casemiro should have been sent off over alleged violent conduct during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, February 4.

United took control of the game from the first half thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Going into the final 20 minutes of the game, United looked fairly comfortable, but one moment completely changed the complexion of the context against Patrick Vieira’s side.
