The former Real Madrid player wishes Modric renews his contract with Los Blancos as the La Liga champions always play better whenever he is on the pitch.

Modric has played in 462 competitive matches for Real Madrid since arriving in 2012, tallying 36 goals and 74 assists.

Real Madrid considers letting Modric leave

Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is considering not renewing Luka Modric’s contract, which expires this summer, Football Espana reports.

The La Liga champions are itching to get Modric’s wages off their books as they believe they have decent replacements already in the team for the veteran Croatian midfielder.

Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Federico Valverde have all stepped up in midfield this season for Real Madrid with the club also pushing to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

Modric, Kroos key despite Madrid transition

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Carlo Ancelotti said on Wednesday veteran midfielders Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are still key for Real Madrid even though he dropped the pair last weekend.

Los Blancos won 2-0 at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday and the duo appeared from the bench, with Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos starting ahead of them.

Modric, 37, and Kroos, 33 -- both out of contract at the end of the season -- face stiff internal competition this season, with Ancelotti highlighting that Madrid are in a period of transition.
