Watford to still pay manager KSh 137 million if they avoid relegation
- Watford sacked Nigel Pearson with only two matches of the season left
- Pearson took charge in December in a deal which ran to the end of the season
- He was set to receive KSh 137 million bonus if he managed to guide the club to safety
- Despite the sack, the 56-year old will still receive his dues if the club somehow manage to beat the drop
Watford Football club will still have to pay sacked manager a hefty bonus if the Hornets somehow manage to escape relegation this season.
Pearson, as TUKO.co.ke reported, was sacked over the weekend with two games to play despite guiding the club out of the relegation zone when he took charge in December.

The dismissal came at the back of a humiliating defeat to fellow relegation candidates WestHam United, and it left the hornets in real danger of slipping to the drop zone.
Aston Villa’s win over Arsenal on Tuesday, July 21, meant the Villains traded places with Watford, who now have only one game to salvage their season as they hope results go their way.
For Pearson, who famously guided Leicester City through the famous “great escape” in 2015, he will be secretly wishing the Hornets stage another escape despite sacking him as it would mean he gets a cool KSh 137 million bonus.

In December, the 56-year old signed a deal until May but it was stretched till the end of the current campaign after the Premier League was delayed by the pandemic.

Having collected 25 points from 20 league matches, Pearson gave Watford a real chance of surviving the drop, although it looks like he had a fall out with the club’s hierarchy at the very last minute.
Watford, under interim manager Hayden Mullins, will hope to put a brave performance against Arsenal in the final day of the season to try to beat the likes of Bournemouth and Aston Villa, two other clubs whose relegation threat is all too real.
