- Sofyan Amrabat was seemingly locked into a dream move to La Liga titans Barcelona
- Serie A side Fiorentina reportedly pulled the plug on the deal as it did not please them
Sofyan Amrabat might be the saddest Moroccan footballer in the world at the moment.
His loan move to Catalan giants, Barcelona from Serie A outfit, Fiorentina cruelly fell apart at the last possible moment during the January transfer window deadline.
With a long goodbye to Sergio Busquets having begun, Morocco's star performer at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar was locked in for a loan move with the option to buy, as a replacement for the all-time great.
However, Sportsmole reported that Fiorentina flushed the deal in the final seconds. According to Football Italia, the Italians were displeased with Barca manager Xavi, repeatedly calling him on deadline among other unmentioned transgressions that scuppered the deal.

Barca boss unaware of deal
How many times do you see a club director not have an idea of a player coming into his team? Well, welcome to Barcelona.
The Catalan giants put in a late move to sign Julian Araujo from LA Galaxy on transfer deadline day and it seemed the club’s sporting director, Mateu Alemany was unaware of the deal.
Alemany was stopped by journalists while leaving Camp Nou on the last day of the window and was asked about the progress of the deal.
The Barcelona sporting director seemed to need confirmation of Araujo’s name, before seemingly shrugging his shoulders in confusion and driving away from the area.
