Van Dijk more prone to goal-leading mistakes than Maguire, stats show

Virgil Van Dijk had an awful day in the Premier League on Wednesday night when Arsenal came from behind to defeat champions Liverpool 2-1.
Following his horror show at the Emirates, errors he has made this season leading to goals surpass Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, who has himself come under scrutiny in recent months.

The Dutch defender terribly gifted the ball away in the first half to let Alexandre Lacazette round the Reds’ goalkeeper to slot home an equalizer.

Statistics have it that that was the first by the defender which led directly into a goal, but he is said to have made some pretty high profile errors recently.
According to stats site WhoScored.com, that game against the Saints was the Harry Maguire's had his worst performances of the season, as he scored a meagre 6.28 rating.
However Van Dijk was given a worse score for Wednesday night's game, as his error contributed to getting just 5.71 out of 10.
Meanwhile, Arsenal increased their chances of taking part in Europa League next season following their surprise 2-1 win over champions Liverpool on Wednesday night, July 15.
Liverpool dominated the opening exchanges of the encounter and took the lead in the 20th minute through Sadio Mane, slamming home after Robertson slipped a simple ball across goal.

Alexander Lacazette equalised for the home side in the 32nd minute, taking advantage of a defensive gaffe involving Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
Another fiasco at the back just a minute to half time saw Nelson hand Arsenal the lead as he steered a fine finish across the keeper into the bottom left.

The Gunners had to come from a goal down at the Emirates to stage a dramatic comeback to secure all the three points.
The defeat was Liverpool's third of the season in the league following their 3-0 loss to Watford back in March. Arsenal, meanwhile, remain ninth on the league standings with 53 points, three off a Europa League place.
