The Catalan giants put in a late move to sign LA Galaxy defender, Julian Aruajo on transfer deadline day, and it seemed the club’s sporting director, Mateu Alemany was unaware of the deal.
According to Football Espana, Alemany was stopped by journalists while leaving Camp Nou on transfer deadline day and was asked about the progress of the deal.
The Barcelona sporting director seemed to need confirmation of Araujo’s name, before seemingly shrugging his shoulders in confusion and driving away from the area.

Barcelona, who are hoping to strengthen their squad in January, had turned to the LA Galaxy defender after their failure to register Gavi and seal a deal for Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.
Barcelona appeal transfer of Araujo
Meanwhile, Barcelona are expected to approach FIFA to urge the football body to approve the transfer of right-back Araujo, Barca Universal reports.
The club was unable to finalise the deal for the defender on deadline day, as paperwork was submitted a minute late even though all parties had reached an agreement over the move.
Araujo had agreed to a move to Camp Nou during the final hours of the transfer market, with the defender reportedly signing a permanent deal until 2026.
