Not many expected the transfer, which shocked even Jorginho’s teammate Cucurella.
GOAL.com shared an interesting short clip of Cucurella answering a question on who he thought the smartest man in the Chelsea squad was.
The full back started to answer, saying: "It's Jorginho 100 per cent," the Spaniard said. "Because he has a..."
But he was quickly interrupted by one of the interviewers, who put him up to speed, that Jorginho was no longer a Chelsea player.
At first, Cucurella seemed aware of the rumours, but once he was informed the transfer was in advanced stages, he could only say, “No”.
Wholesome moment between Jorginho and Arteta
Jorginho’s move to Arsenal may well end up working out for both parties, if a past video of the midfielder and Mikel Arteta is anything to go by.
New footage has now shown a previous encounter between the two after a match at Stamford Bridge. Arteta warmly embraced Jorginho with the midfielder responding in a similar manner as they walked off the pitch.
Jorginho was supposed to join Manchester City in 2018 when Arteta was still Pep Guardiola's assistant and as GMS reports, the Spanish head coach has in the past admitted he likes a 'Jorginho-type of midfielder.'
