Barcelona aren’t letting their financial problems derail their quest to bring in new players.
The Spanish giants are looking to bring in a Moroccan star who enjoyed a stellar showing at the FIFA World Cup.
Barcelona have been linked with a move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. The Moroccan has also been linked with a move to the English Premier League with either Liverpool or Tottenham.
Barca approached Amrabat’s agent
Respected football journalist Gerard Romero confirmed that Barcelona had approached the agents for Amrabat because the club have a good relationship with them. They were looking to sign the player on loan with a non-mandatory option to buy the player at a later stage.

Fiorentina reject offer
Fabrizio Romano later confirmed that Barcelona made an official approach for the player, but the Italian club immediately rejected it.

The Moroccan had an impressive World Cup outing, putting in performances that caught the eye of numerous teams. He was instrumental as Morocco became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Amrabat’s thoughts on possible transfer
The player previously spoke about the links to Barcelona, saying that he was proud to be associated with the team, Goal noted.
“I’m proud to be linked with top clubs like Barcelona and Atletico. But I’m a Fiorentina player, I respect the club and I have a great relationship with the president. We also have a good coach at Fiorentina.”
