Dele Aiyenugba has exclusively revealed to Sports Brief that he was very happy to have gotten the kind of honour Lionel Messi got at PSG after winning the World Cup.
On Sunday, 29 January, the former Super Eagles goalkeeper was honoured in Aba by Enyimba before the kickoff of their Nigerian League game against Kwara United.
How Aiyenugba was honoured
The 39-year-old came out of the dressing room and got a guard of honour from players of Enyimba and also his teammates at Kwara United.

Speaking to Sports Brief, Aiyenugba made it clear that he was actually not expecting such from his former club.
Statement made by Aiyenugba
''I was not expecting it to be honest and I must appreciate Enyimba for the honour because I was treated like Leo Messi who is the best player ever in the world.
''It was at Enyimba I had the best of my career and glory be to God for everything.''
Aiyenugba played for Enyimba between the year 2001-2007 where he won four Nigerian League titles, one FA Cup, one Super Cup, two Champions League and 2 African Super Cups.
The 39-year-old then left Enyimba in 2007 for Israel where he spent 13 years of his career before making a return to the Nigerian topflight in 2020 joining Kwara United.
Aiyenugba gears up for United
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Dele Aiyenugba revealed that he joined Nigerian club Kwara United so as for him to win the Nigerian Professional Football League title with the Ilorin based club.
