According to Goal, Williams was forced to miss his first club match since 2016 due to physical discomfort, ending a run of 251 consecutive La Liga games for Athletic Bilbao.

The Black Stars forward broke the previous record for most consecutive appearances in October 2021, eclipsing the 202 made by Real Soceidad's Juanan Larranaga.
Williams who switched his allegiance to Ghana before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, last missed a La Liga game on April 7, 2016, when Athletic Bilbao played Malaga.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Inaki Williams has finally explained why he chose to play for the Black Stars of Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after speaking with his grandfather who convinced him.
