Manchester United and Eri Ten Hag have been dealt a blow after Christian Eriksen was spotted leaving Old Trafford in crutches on Saturday, January 28.

The Dane was on the receiving end of a horrific tackle from Andy Caroll during the FA Cup clash between Manchester United and Reading.

Caroll received two yellow cards and was subsequently sent off in the space of five minutes for tackles on Tyrell Malacia and Casemiro.

A video has since emerged on social media showing Eriksen leaving the stadium in crutches in an apparent ankle injury.

What Ten Hag said

After the game, United boss Ten Hag said it was too early to conclude how long Eriksen would be out.

"It's always difficult to say so soon after the game finished, but it's an ankle [injury] and we have to see what the diagnosis is.”He said as quoted on The Sun.
"It will be a minimum of 24 hours before we know that, and then I can say more."

Eriksen has been a key part of Ten Hag’s success so far this season, and has featured in all but one game across all competitions this season.

A lengthy layoff for the Dane could mean he misses a series of games including a potential Carabao Cup final, the Europa League knockouts and the thrilling race for the Premier League title.

United have already been forced to readjust after Donny Van de Beek’s season was ended through injury.
