The mouthwatering clash comes at a time Stars are facing a mountainous task to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Kenya will be looking to earn the perfect revenge over Mali during the meeting, with the tie happening only days after the west African nation stunned Stars 5-0 in Morocco.

The Engin Firat-tutored side fell to Les Aigles in their third fixture of Group E to have their hopes of making it to Qatar dented.

However, Kahata has exuded optimism Stars can earn perfect revenge over Mali in the reverse tie by beating their opponents by a similar scoreline.

While the midfielder admitted the midweek performance by Stars was poor, he was quick to back the team to make amends on Sunday.

"Yes, it was a poor performance, but since those in the team are representing us, we believe they can make amends in the next meeting at home," Kahata told Goal.
"In football, everything is possble, it will not be surprising for us to win 5-0 as well," he added.

Mali are currently topping Group E with seven points, with Stars placed third with just two points after settling for draws against neighbours Uganda and Rwanda.

Uganda, meanwhile, are second in the pool with five points, with Rwanda bottom with just a point.

Harambee Stars backed to qualify for World Cup

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Kenyan international Aboud Omar has exuded confidence Harambee Stars can pull a surprise and qualify for the 2022 World Cup to be played in Qatar.

Kenya has never qualified for the global extravaganza in the football history of the country but will be looking to give it a try as the qualification rounds of matches hot up.

Stars have been pooled alongside Mali, Rwanda and rivals Uganda in the qualifiers and will need to top the group to increase their chances of booking a spot in Qatar.
