Legendary Ghanaian forward, Asamoah Gyan believes former Liberia striker, George Weah is ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo on the list of all-time greats.

In recent times, the debate on the best player of all-time has been between the Portuguese ace and his long-time rival, Lionel Messi.

However, Messi's success at the World Cup has seen the argument skewed towards Pele and Maradona.

While speaking on The Day Show on Tv3, Gyan picked Weah - Africa's only Ballon d'Or winner - over Ronaldo.

"He is a centre forward, but I have to choose George Weah," he said. "He is an African; he is the only African who has one the Ballon d'Or. His time there were a lot of durable defenders. No disrespect to this generation."

Weah, currently the President of Liberia, enjoyed a stellar career that saw him play for Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Marseille.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has moved to Asia to signed for Saudi Arabian giants, Al-Nassr in the winter transfer window.

The Portuguese veteran has won the Ballon d'Or five times and remains one of the greatest goal scorers of all-time.
