William Troost-Ekong Joins Italian Serie a Side Salernitana After Leaving Watford

Hours after leaving Championship side Watford, Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, has joined Italian Serie A side Salernitana on loan until the end of the season.

This latest development comes as a good one for the Nigerian international who will now want to bounce back reckoning by playing in the Italian topflight.

Lack of active playing time forced him out of Watford and moving to the Serie A is a big one for the big defender.

Salernitana however took to their official Twitter page to post the photo of the Super Eagles strongman as they welcomed him to the club.

Salernitana's position on the table

Salernitana are not comfortable so far this season on the Italian Serie A table as they are occupying 16th position with 18 points after 19 games played.

Speaking on Ekong's move to the Serie A, Nigerian reporter, Ojora Babatunde, who is based in Paris explained to Sports Brief that he is happy with the player's decision.

''It is a good move for Ekong considering the fact that he will have the chance to play in the Serie A which will boost the level of his confidence.''

Ekong tenders apology to Nigerians

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how William Troost-Ekong tendered an apology to all Nigerians following the Super Eagles' failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after 1-1 draw against Ghana in Abuja.
