Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti suffered another injury setback during a Serie A game on January 21st.
Umtiti had to be helped off the field in the 73rd minute with Alessandro Tuia taking his place during Lecce's game against Verona.
Umtiti's career has taken a nosedive since winning the World Cup with France in 2018. He was part of Didier Deschamps's starting XI alongside Raphael Varane. He scored in the semifinal against Belgium.
Injuries have then set him back with Barcelona sending him on loan to Italy. Against Verona, he went off with a shoulder injury as Barca Universal reports.

Lecce lost the game 2-0 with Verona scoring through Fabio Depaoli and Darko Lazovic. The defeat leaves Umtiti's team in 14th place with 20 points.
Umtiti woes in Italy
This comes at a time when Sports Brief had earlier reported that accusations of racism to be levelled against the supporters of an Italian team. This time, it was the turn of repeat offenders Lazio to have a finger pointed at them.
Lecce players Lameck Banda (Zambia) and Samuel Umtiti (France) were racially abused during a Serie A encounter on Wednesday. World cup winner Umtiti - born in Cameroon reportedly left the pitch in tears as a result of the vile abuse, before the referee halted the disgraceful proceedings.
He also insisted that the match continue, a courageous and upstanding gesture that was lauded far and wide, with Lecce supporters reportedly drowning out the visitors' chants.

In other news, Ghana forward, Felix Afena-Gyan broke the heart of a Napoli fan with his match-winning penalty during the Coppa Italia last 16 clash.
