Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi has been ruled out of action for two months due to a problem with his groin.
The Nottingham Forest striker suffered a knock during his side’s 1-0 win over Southampton in a Premier League clash on January 4.
Awoniyi put up an impressive performance during the encounter and scored the only goal of the game before he was substituted 20 minutes from time.
Afterwards, he said that he felt “soreness in the groin”, but added that he was fine. He has not made his club’s match-day squad since then.

According to journalist Santi Aouna, who is attached to Foot Mercato, Awoniyi will be out of action “for some months”, Complete Sports reports.
Nottingham Forest is ready to make a move to another striker this window and talks have advanced with Newcastle United’s Chris Wood.
Meanwhile, Taiwo Awoniyi is just one goal away from equalling Erling Haaland’s goal record from open play in the English Premier League this season.
The Nottingham Forest striker has scored four times from open play, just one shy of that of both Haaland and Harry Kane.
It was his fourth league goal of the season, with only Haaland and Kane managing this feat five times in more league games this season.
Awoniyi admitted Forest was still in the process as far as progress as a team, but he believes moving out of the bottom three is only the start.

FootballSports Brief earlier reported that Italian giants Napoli have raised Victor Osimhen’s transfer free from €100million to €140million amid interests from English Premier League clubs Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Red Devils are desperately in search of another striker after terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract last December.
Osimhen has been in blistering form in Italy, and he tops the Serie A goal charts with 12 goals so far this season, helping the Partenopei to set their sights on the league title.
