When the news broke that Chelsea will pay £88m for the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, not many would have thought the Ukrainians have a plan for the record fee they will receive.
The transfer negotiations between the club and Arsenal dragged on for weeks, but the Pensioners moved quickly and secured the deal as fast as possible to secure their man, bettering their rivals' fee by about £3m.
Shakhtar Donetsk president Rinat Akhmetov has confirmed in celebration of the sale, he will donate from his own purse to a charitable function, in supporting soldiers fighting the Russia-Ukraine war which broke out last year.
Shakhtar to donate after Mudryk's sale
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 as reported by CNBC. One of the aftermaths of that was a sanction on Chelsea former owner and Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich which forced the sale of Chelsea, as reported by BBC News.

As reported by Independent, £2.5bn from the sale of the club to a consortium led by Todd Boehly was donated to the victims of war in Ukraine and now another funds from Chelsea are set to go to the war-torn country.
Shakhtar Donetsk president Rinat Akhmetov confirmed in an official statement that £22m from his pocket will go into a foundation to help the frontliners of the war, after the sale of Mudryk.
''I have made a decision to launch the Heart of Azovstal, a project designed to help Mariupol defenders and the families of fallen soldiers… I am allocating $25 million (UAH 1 billion) today to help our soldiers, defenders, and their families. The money will be used to cover different needs,'' the statement reads.

FootballThere was misunderstanding about the source of the funds to be donated to charity, with many claiming it was from the sale of the player, but club CEO Sergei Palkin clarified it to The Athletic that it was Akhmetov's personal funds.
As reported by Evening Standard, as part of the agreement to sign the 22 year old, the two clubs agreed to play a friendly in the Donbass region of Ukraine when the war is over and it's safe to do so.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chelsea boss Graham Potter claims the fans will love Mudryk, their £88m signing who was unveiled at Stamford Bridge yesterday.
The Ukrainian was present at the stadium for the club's 1-0 win over their London neighbours Crystal Palace and walked out on the pitch at half time.
Potter highlights his ability to take defenders on as an attribute that will endear him to the fans, as such has not been seen on a consistent level since Eden Hazard left the club.
