The club then went a notch higher with their tribute to Pele, widely considered the greatest footballer of all time, ahead of their opening game in the Brazilian top flight.
In a video shared on Santos' Twitter handle, seen by Sports Brief, a number of Pele's playing mates majestically walked towards the centre line, where a royal chair, befitting of a king had been placed.

The quartet of Santos legends then hoisted the giant crown to the cheer of the teeming fans at Vila Belmiro before placing it on the chair.
Santos crowned the night after honouring Pele with a comeback victory against Mirassol in the Campeonato Paulista, Brazil's top flight, per whoscored.
