Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech is best remembered for his time at Chelsea where he won major trophies including the Premier League and Champions League titles. He is also known for wearing protective gear after his head injury in 2006.

He played for Chelsea rivals Arsenal for five years and returned shortly after the Gunners lost the 2019 Europa League to the Blues. He took up the role of technical and performance advisor, which he relinquished months ago under Todd Boehly.

The 40 year old has been a part time ice hockey player since 2019 and after leaving Chelsea's backroom role, he has more time for his childhood dream and plays among the elites of the NHL despite being a semi-professional.

Cech fulfills childhood dream

The former Rennes goalkeeper had an adventurous career, and he is not stopping since retiring from professional football in 2019. He made his ice hockey debut in 2019 and won man of the match in his first game as reported by CBS Sports.

According to ESPN, Cech decided to leave the Chelsea role after meeting with new owner Todd Boehly and has been largely unheard of since July, until recently when he was spotted playing ice hockey.

As reported by Sports Bible, he trained with NHL club Chicago Blackhawks as a goaltender after attending their game, and admits it was a childhood dream to play among elite players.

''You’re facing the top players in the world, so you have to expect that they will have a good shot and be clever and in control… Overall, I really enjoyed it. It was a priceless experience for me. I’m kind of living my childhood dream.'' he said.

Former Chelsea player now a pastor

In another news, Sports Brief reported that former Chelsea striker Garvin Peacock is a pastor in Canada after a successful football career that spanned for about 18 years.

Peacock took an unusual route by becoming a preacher of the gospel, as many other retired professionals venture into coaching, ambassadorial, punditry or other football roles.

He had always put his faith at the centre of his life during his playing days and released an autobiography titled from Pitch to Pulpit in 2021.
