FootballMan City Star Tipped for Early Etihad Exit After Disastrous Performance vs Southampton
- Manchester City succumbed to a shock 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the Carabao Cup
- Fans singled out Kalvin Phillips for his apparent shambolic performance in the match
- Phillips has had a torrid few weeks, being accused of returning to training overweight
Manchester City midfielder, Kalvin Phillips once again finds himself at the centre of criticism from fans after his latest performance against Southampton on Wednesday, January 12.
Phillips joined City seven months ago, and there was a lot of optimism surrounding the England star after he penned a six-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.
But his spell as a Manchester City player has been anything but straightforward so far, and this was evident when he was handed a start at Saint Mary’s on Wednesday.
Phillips endured another miserable night, and was eventually hauled off at the hour mark and replaced by Rodri, as per SportBible.

Phillips slammed on social media
On social media, fans took aim at Phillips, with many saying he may not last at Manchester City after the lacklustre performance in the Carabao Cup.
“Kalvin Phillips is just a carabao or a FA type of player. Slow with the ball, passing backwards or sideways,” one fan said.
@the_sig55 added:
"Yup, Kalvin Phillips has a long way to go. Looking at his age, he might even struggle to ever play ahead of Rodri. His only chance is to play with him."

“Kalvin Phillips has been City’s and Pep’s worst signing in the last few markets.”
Klopp: 'Like Nunez, Lewandowski also fired blanks in first season'
Football@Dule98 commented:
"Kalvin Phillips had one of the worst matches I've ever seen, could barely seen him on the pitch and no one says a word about him, but they slander Gomez. What's that all about?"
