“I can say over 60 coaches have applied for the Black Stars coaching job and those coaches are European and South American coaches,” Asante Twum told Asempa FM as quoted by Pulse.
“From what I know, no Ghanaian coach has applied for the job. The Black Stars is very attractive. You cannot have Mohammed Kudus in your team and think the Black Stars is not attractive. It is an attractive brand, no doubt about that.
“I think it will be this month. From the conversations going on it is very likely a new head coach of the Black Stars will be appointed this month.”

The Black Stars will next be in action in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Nora Hauptle named Black Queens coach

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Switzerland women's national team player, Nora Hauptle has been appointed the head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana.

The 39-year-old replaces Marcy Quarcoo-Tagoe as coach of the female national team, and will be assisted by Joyce Boatey-Agyei and Aboagye Dacosta.

The former FC Thun player was technical advisor of the Black Queens for a while and will now assume full control after the FA confirmed her appointment.

Appiah opens up on Gyan's captaincy

Former Ghana coach, James Kwesi Appiah has finally revealed why Asamoah Gyan was stripped of the Black Stars captaincy just days before the start of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The decision by Appiah led to Gyan threatening to boycott the tournament in Egypt, and it took some persuasion from the presidency for the striker to join the team.

Four years after the incident, Appiah has explained his decision, insisting the Ghanaian was not going to feature in a big way on the pitch.
