Despite both sides having glorious goal-scoring chances in the dying minutes, players were wasteful in front of goal as the match finished 1-1 during regulation time.
The final outcome of the evenly-contested match therefore had to be decided in a penalty shoot-out that was eventually won by Sharks.
Goalscorers Williams and Abuya both missed the target in the first round round of the shootout, with Abuya sending his effort across the bar.

Everton's Adeniran saw his shot saved by Brian Bwire who was between the sticks for Sharks, who then went on to convert the decisive penalty that earned the KPL side a historic win.
Sharks set up a date with the English side early this year after sinking Bandari FC in the SportPesa Super Cup in Tanzania.
Meanwhile, this was Everton’s second visit to East Africa, with the team making the first appearance in Tanzania two years ago.
At the time, they faced inaugural SportPesa Super Cup winners Gor Mahia FC in a game that the Toffees won 2-1.
