Sports Brief earlier reported that England boss, Gareth Southgate has come out to admit Abraham’s 'poor run of scoring' cost him a place in the Three Lions’ World Cup squad.
The England manager named his 26-man squad for the global spectacle, naming Newcastle man Callum Wilson to deputise Harry Kane in the striking position.
Wilson had netted six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League at the time, something Southgate said had played a factor in the decision to select him ahead of Abraham.
