The Netherlands legend, Wesley Sneijder has appeared to question Manchester United's interest in Wout Weghorst.
Weghorst is reportedly close to joining the Red Devils on a short-term loan from Besiktas. He is expected to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract was terminated last year.
The move is said to be approved by Erik ten Hag, as he seeks to pursue trophies on four fronts. Anthony Martial is the only recognised number 9 in the squad at the moment, with Marcus Rashford an alternative as well.
Why Sneijder is concerned
However, Sneijder has waded into the rumours by pouring cold water on the move.

The Inter Milan legend has doubted whether Weghorst is the type of striker that will fit Manchester United's plans.
"In terms of striker, is he really someone United are waiting for? I don't think so. They still have 300 of those in the Premier League. It must be a stunt. This really can't be true," he said as quoted by MEN.
Weghorst at the World Cup
Weghorst is a Burnley striker, but could not help the Clarets from escaping relegation at the end of the season. He starred for the Netherlands in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, after scoring a quick brace in the quarter-finals against Argentina.
Sneijder is ranked among one of the greatest football exports from the Netherlands.
Football fans have argued that one of the greatest robberies in Ballon d'Or history happened in 2010, when he lost out to Lionel Messi despite winning a treble with Inter Milan and reaching the World Cup finals. He didn't even finish in the top three.
