Flamingos Players Begged for Money To Celebrate 2022 Christmas

• The Flamingos of Nigeria have not been paid their 2022 World Cup allowances by the NFF heads
• Several players of the team made this known claiming that they even begged for money to celebrate Christmas
• The players are not the only ones as their coaching crew and other officials have also not been paid

A player who pleaded to be anonymous stated clearly that the NFF chiefs have not even told them when will their allowances be paid by the Nigerian Football Federation.

This latest development comes close to three months that the Nigerian girls made the nation proud by winning bronze at the 2022 World Cup in India.

The Flamingos defeated Germany on penalties in the third-place encounter which was a challenging battle for coach Olowookere and his wards.

According to the report on Punch, some players explained that they had to beg for money around to celebrate 2022 Christmas and even the new year.

Statement made by the player

“The NFF is yet to pay us our match bonuses and some other benefits and these are what we need to survive.

“Since we came back from India, we haven’t heard anything, and we are already losing hope. Some of us are not as privileged as other kids and we had to beg for money to celebrate Christmas and New Year.”

The Punch however contacted the NFF director of media, Ademola Olajire, who claimed that the players will be paid soon.
