Among the impressive results posted by the lower-tier sides, Strasbourg Koenigshoffen's result made the headlines owing to the background story behind their win.

According to Telefoot, the Strasbourg-based club watched a video of Kylian Mbappé before heading out onto the pitch, which proved instrumental in their groundbreaking win.

World champion scores in FA Cup win

Elsewhere in England, Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister returned to Brighton a hero after winning the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup in his first major tournament with La Albiceleste.

He played six games in Qatar after sitting out the tournament's first game and was pivotal as Argentina went all the way, assisting Angel Di Maria for the second goal in the final.

He came off the bench for his second appearance since his return and scored twice in the 5-1 win over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, the second goal an exquisite backheel worthy of a World Cup winner.

Mbappe reaches out to Messi

Sports Brief earlier reported that the World Cup final pitted club teammates Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe against each other.

Both were influential in the match, but it was the Argentine who reached the ultimate goal.

The French international was then accused of unsportsmanlike behaviour, for not reaching out to his club teammate to congratulate him after he won the only elusive trophy of his career.
