President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o has paid an emotional tribute to former teammate, Modeste M'Bami, who died on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
The former Paris Saint Germain and Marseille player passed on after suffering a heart attack. He was 40.
Eto'o and M'Bami played together for the Cameroonian national team, winning gold at the Olympic Games in 2000.
"You left too soon," Eto'o wrote on Facebook with emojis depicting his pain.

M'Bami who played 37 times for the Cameroonian national team, spent most of his career in France. PSG, where he won the 2004 and 2006 Coupe de France, paid tribute to their former player.
“Paris Saint-Germain is in mourning. Modeste M’Bami has passed away at the age of 40 after suffering a heart attack,” the club said in a statement. “PSG offers heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones," wrote PSG.
The late M'Bami also played for UD Almeria in Spain before spending time in China and Saudi Arabia. Before calling time on his career, he played for Le Havre.
Cameroon hit with age cheating
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that age fraud continues to rock Cameroon football, as 11 more under-17 team members have failed tests ordered by FECAFOOT president, Samuel Eto’o.
This brings the total number of players involved in the controversy to 32, as Cameroon continues to prepare for the UNIFACC tournament - contested by the U17 sides of the Central African Football Federations' Union countries.
