  • The five-time Ballon d'Or winner will have to wait before turning out in Al-Nassr colours

Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a huge setback to his highly-anticipated Al-Nassr debut.

The Portuguese superstar was officially unveiled as a player of the Saudi Arabian club on Tuesday at Mrsool Park in Riyadh, and was billed to make his debut as soon as Thursday, January 5.

However, Ronaldo has been barred from making his debut against Al Taee after failing to have served a two-match FA ban.

What led to Ronaldo's ban?

He reportedly slapped the hand of Jacob Harding, a young Everton fan, as he stormed down the tunnel at Goodison Park last April. The boy's phone was damaged as a result.

Harding's mother, Sarah Kelly said her son’s hand was also bruised by the then-Manchester United superstar, per Liverpool Echo.

The 37-year-old forward was found guilty of improper and violent conduct and given a two-match ban.

FIFA regulations state that bans imposed by a different federation do carry over, hence Ronaldo will not be available on Thursday.

Ronaldo impresses at Al-Nassr training

Ronaldo underwent his first training session for Al-Nassr on Tuesday evening, and scored an impressive goal to kick off his time in Riyadh.

The 37-year-old surprised everybody with a move to the Saudi Arabian outfit, after mutually terminating his contract with Manchester United.

Ronaldo produced a powerful finish from inside the box with his ‘weaker’ left peg, and it’s safe to say no goalkeeper on the planet would have gotten a glove to it.

Ronaldo splits with long-time agent

Sports Brief earlier reported that Al-Nassr forward Ronaldo has reportedly parted ways with his super-agent Jorge Mendes, after nearly 20 years of working together.

Said to be at the heart of their rift is the bombshell interview the 37-year-old did with Piers Morgan - allegedly against the agent's advice.

According to some publications however, the relationship between Mendes and Ronaldo had deteriorated over the last few months.
