Abdul Samed Salis has revealed making reference to Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari to give his mother an idea of what playing at the World Cup meant.
The RC Lens midfielder was selected for the tournament in Qatar despite making just a single appearance for the national team prior to the World Cup.
Salis became one of Ghana's best players in Qatar even though the Black Stars suffered a group stage exit at the global showpiece.
Following his return to France, Salis disclosed his mother was not a big fan of football and did not really understand what playing at the World Cup means.

However, she was very proud when people in his neighbourhood in Accra mentioned seeing him on TV.
“I came back as I was before, I haven't changed," he told la voix du nord. " It was amazing. I was already very happy when the coach called me. I immediately called my mother, and I told her that I was going to play for the country. I explained to her well, it's like the Essien, the Muntari that we watched on TV when I was little, she understood better and she was very proud, my little brothers aged 15 and 10 too," he added.
"My mother does not know football, she had never seen me play before the World Cup where she saw me on TV. She doesn't have time, she knows I play football, that's all. She was very proud, because the whole family, my neighborhood, everyone shouted and sang my name. They took pictures of me around the neighborhood everywhere," continued the midfielder.

Samed Salis joins RC Lens
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that talented Ghanaian midfielder, Abdul Samed Salis, has joined French topflight side RC Lens in the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old joins signed a five-year deal to joins Lens from Ligue 1 rivals Clermont Foot.
The club confirmed the arrived on the Ghanaian on their official website on Friday, June 24, 2022.
