The English Premier League will get underway in 2023 with Antonio Conte's Tottenham Hotspur playing hosts to Unai Emery's Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Villa are coming into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Boxing Day, while Tottenham fought back to secure a 2-2 draw against Brentford in the London derby.
The matchday also marks the opening of the January transfer window, one which former Villarreal manager confirmed Aston Villa will be heavily involved with outgoings and new signings coming in.

Emery, who took over the club in October confirmed there will be business at the club in January, while speaking ahead of the New Year's Day match against Spurs, as quoted by Birmingham Live.

“Now is coming the transfer window in January. The players are focused here but we are speaking about the possibility of some changes. We are going to decide in the next week about the possibility of some players leaving and some players coming. The important players I am not thinking they are going to leave.” he said.
Sky Sports reports that the club are interested in his former players, Arnaut Danjuma and Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal. An ambitious move for João Felix is also being considered.
