Salis Abdul Samed has shared a moving story on how his mother had the chance to watch him for the first time on television.

Salis, one of Ghana's breakout stars at the 2022 World Cup, provided further insight into the ripple effect the global showpiece had on his family.

According to the 22-year-old midfielder, his mum is not a football fanatic however his participation at the Qatar 2022 Mundial was a heartwarming moment for her.

“It was incredible. I was already very happy when the coach called me. I immediately called my mother and told her I was going to play for the country," Salis said as quoted by GFFN.

He then went on to explain that his mother was not into football, and that “she had never seen me play before the World Cup when she saw me on TV”

Salis has since turned his attention from the World Cup to club football, continuing from where he left off before the break, per GHANASoccernet.

He would hope to put out yet another assuring performance in the middle of the park when RC Lens face Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Salis shines on Ghana debut

Abdul Samed Salis has shared his excitement after making his debut for the Black Stars of Ghana in the friendly against Switzerland on Thursday.

The RC Lens midfielder started and was one of Ghana's best players as the Black Stars strolled to victory at the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Having previously failed to make the team due to injury, the 22-year-old expressed how proud he is to play for Ghana.

Embolo's mum cries out

Sports Brief earlier reported that Germaine who is the mother of Switzerland international Breel Embolo has expressed anger over the attack on her son most especially on social media after scoring against Cameroon at the ongoing 2022 World Cup.

Embolo has for the last couple of days been making the sporting headlines after scoring against the country of his birth in which his goal gave Switzerland a 1-0 win.

After scoring the goal, Embolo did not celebrate which was a mark of respect to all Cameroonians where he was born before his parents moved him to France when he was young.
