Xavi has received some criticism from Barcelona fans following his decision to start Marcos Alonso in the club’s local derby against Espanyol.
Alonso will play in a four-man defence for Barcelona that includes Andreas Christensen, Sergi Roberto, and Jordi Alba.
According to Sportskeeda, fans took to social media to express their displeasure at the Barcelona manager after the starting line-up for the crucial game was revealed on the club’s twitter page.

Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso answered his critics perfectly after giving Barcelona the lead in the La Liga derby against Espanyol.
The Spanish defender registered his first ever La Liga goal after he headed in from close range after the Espanyol defence failed to deal with a set-piece from Barcelona.
Alonso joined Barcelona from Chelsea on a free transfer last summer following the expiration of his contract with the English Premier League giants.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso has revealed he always had a soft spot for the Catalan giants, despite starting his career with football career arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old Spanish defender spent over 5 years at Real Madrid after featuring for Los Blancos’ youth teams from 2005 to 2010, playing for the Under-17s to Real Madrid Castilla.
Alonso has now admitted that he had always wanted to join Barcelona, as the Spanish giants have been his favourite football club right from when he was a child.
