Virgil Van Dijk showed off his unsympathetic side after Leicester City's defender Wout Faes had a horror show at Anfield on December 30th.
Faes put the ball twice in his own net to give Liverpool a scrappy 2-1 win over the Foxes in their last games of the 2022 calendar year.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall put Brendan Rodgers' side ahead with a wonderful lob over Alisson. After a sustained period of pressure from Liverpool, Fes crooked attempted to clear a Trent Alexander-Arnold whipping cross into the area and failed miserably as the ball found the top corner to equal proceedings.

Minutes later, the Belgian defender bagged a brace of sorts. With Darwin Nunez clear on goal, the striker lifted the ball past Danny Ward but watched his shot agonizingly hit the post and cannon back into play.

However, the lanky Uruguayan forward was offered some respite as the ball his Faes and went back in to put Liverpool ahead. That second own-goal turned out to be the winner.
No remorse from VVD
Speaking after the game, Van Dijk admitted he was not sympathetic to Faes' misfortunes. The Dutch captain instead insisted that Liverpool had to work on their own defensive issues ahead of their next game.
"At times I thought we were very poor today but sounds cliche, very important to win these types of games so that’s positive. Now, we have to recover, improve for Brentford." as quoted by Mirror.
