Karim Benzema hasn’t played in two months for Real Madrid in La Liga and his touch in front of the goal is evidence of that.

The French striker was forced out of action through injury and didn’t feature for France in the World Cup either.

Many expected Benzema to hit the ground running when he returned to La Liga action with Los Blancos against Real Valladolid, but the striker appeared to have left his striking boots at home.

Some fans commented that Benzema looked off colour and his poor attempt on goal in the 17th minute proved them right.

The Madrid attacker pounced on the ball in the box after Valladolid’s keeper pushed away a Vinicius Jnr attempt but blasted his shot over the bar from close range.

The finish was very uncharacteristic of the Ballon d’Or winner and was Benzema’s best chance of the whole game until the 82nd minute.

Benzema then made up for his earlier miss by converting a penalty to give Madrid the lead. Benzema then scored a second goal minutes later to give Madrid victory.
