  • Emiliano Martinez returned to training on December 30 after Argentina's World Cup triumph
  • He is largely regarded as 'the most hated man in football' because of his post-Mundial antics
  • The Golden Glove winner is expected to integrate seamlessly back into the Aston Villa team

Emiliano Martinez is back with Aston Villa, more than 10 days after winning the World Cup with Argentina.

The goalie, like his counterpart Lionel Messi, had extended time off club duty for his role in the historic triumph for La Albiceleste.

Since his heroics and subsequent World Cup win, Martinez has been the subject of controversy for a series of uncalled-for antics in the name of celebrating.

In recent days, Martinez has been nicknamed 'the most hated man in football'.

As reported by Daily Mail, the shot-stopper is now set for crunch talks with his manager Unai Emery on his behavior post-Qatar.

The Villains' boss was among those who were critical of the goalkeeper’s actions, but said he was more focused on his star’s performances on the pitch.

Reports in Spain have also been rife in recent days, claiming Martinez may be on his way out of Villa Park.

Aston Villa shared a video of Martinez back in training with the caption: 'Look who’s back' and the looking emoji.

In the video, the 30-year old affords a smile and a wave before making his way past the cameras.

Di Maria’s wife in online feud

Sports Brief earlier reported on the interesting feud between Angel Di Maria and former France international Adil Rami, which has spilled over to the Argentinian's wife.

Amid all the online mayhem, Di Maria’s wife Jorgelina sprang to her husband's defence, slipping in a cheeky compliment towards her hubby for his alleged bedroom prowess.

Rami had initially taken a mighty jab at Martinez by branding him ‘the biggest son of a [expletive] in football’. This insult prompted a rejoinder from Di Maria, who hit back by calling Martinez the best goalie and telling Rami to 'go cry somewhere else'.
