Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has enjoyed a successful 2022 and now the forward is set to be rewarded at Italian club Napoli.

Napoli continue to dominate the Serie A this season, as they remain the only team yet to taste defeat in the Italian topflight so far.

Osimhen has been nominated for two important awards – the best club goal and the best club assist for the year 2022.

The Nigerian is one of the five nominees for the goal of 2022 alongside Giovanni Simeone, Piotr Zielinski, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Eljif Elmas.

He has been in sensational form in the last 12 months scoring 19 goals in all competitions, but his strike against AS Roma in October could bag him the prestigious prize.

With barely ten minutes left in that encounter, Osimhen received a looping ball from the middle, and outmuscled former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, before firing a ferocious effort from a tight angle past Rui Patricio.

That strike won the tie for Luciano Spalletti’s men, but compete with Kvara’s curler against Monza, Simeone’s header versus AC Milan, Zielinski’s stabbed finish at Empoli, and Elmas’s beauty against Udinese.

He also features in the Napoli best assist alongside teammates Frank Anguissa, Mario Rui, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Eljif Elmas.

The Super Eagles striker also produced sensational energy and awareness with a pass leading to their winning goal over Atalanta in November.

Napoli to offer fresh contract to Osimhen

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Italian giants Napoli are prepared to offer a massive contract extension to Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, who continues to shine in Naples.

Several clubs are trailing the Super Eagles forward ahead of the January transfer window as he has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle.

Bayern Munich are also looking to land the striker, but Napoli are not ready to let him go, so a new deal is being offered.
