It is now certain that Emi Martinez is that guy you want in your corner when you win. From world-class saves, to saving penalties and to riling up opponents, Martinez is the complete package.

He has been on the receiving end of some backlash for his World Cup celebrations that have been deemed offensive. He has particularly been singled out for his antics towards France star Kylian Mbappe.

Martinez was the penalty shoot-out hero as Argentina beat France on December 18th to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

This time around, Martinez has seemingly roasted Mbappe enough and decided to mock his Argentina teammates.

Taking to his Instagram stories, the Aston Villa goalkeeper took a selfie with four horses and tagged Nicolas Otamendi, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Romero and German Pezzella.

What did the post mean?

He then captioned the image, 'I miss you.' Fans were quick to jump to the conclusion that he was comparing his teammates to the horses.

Another fan also pointed out that Martinez was likening the Argentina backline to how hard horse's work.

The four players tagged were all part of Argentina's success with Otamendi and Romero the first-choice centre-backs.

Emery wants to sell Martinez

Martinez is still on holiday before he jets back to England where Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is reportedly desperate to sell the Argentine goalkeeper Emi Martinez following his antics in Qatar.

Martinez starred as Argentina beat France on post-match penalties but his celebrations thereafter have left a lot to be desired.

Emery is ready to move on the 30-year-old as he continues to build his squad. The former Arsenal manager took over the reins at Villa Park from Steven Gerrard on November 1st.

Martinez has gone from a World Cup hero to a controversial figure in only a matter of days. It all has to do with his recent antics, which have been thoroughly criticized across the football world.
