FootballTen Hag Reveals Why Man Utd Extended Contracts of Four Players

Manchester United activated the option of a unilateral extension of contracts for a further one year for four of their players during the midweek, the decision has now been confirmed by head coach Erik Ten Hag.
Academy graduate Marcus Rashford was due to be out of contract at the end of the season before the club exercised the option in his contract. Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Fred are the other three players who the option was exercised for.
The club are yet to agree a new contract with all four players and used the option to keep them at the club while negotiations are ongoing and to prevent them from leaving on a free at the end of the season.
Portuguese right back Diogo is a transfer target for Barcelona as revealed by Football Espana, while winger Marcus Rashford is heavily wanted by Paris Saint-Germain as reported by The Athletic.

Ten Hag confirms contract extensions
Speaking in an exclusive interview with MUTV, the former Ajax manager confirmed the club extended the contract of the four stars.
“Yes, I can confirm it. We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.” he said.
He went further to reveal the reason the extension was done as the players are central to his plans of building a team for the future.
“We want to develop, we want to support those players and we want them to keep being in our process. So, that’s why we came to those decisions, I’m sure they are the right decisions. We want to construct a team for the future, so for longer years, and those players have to be part of it.” he added.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ten Hag issued an update on Jadon Sancho after Manchester United beat Burnley in the Carabao Cup in the midweek.
The former Borussia Dortmund player has been absent from the Manchester United squad after being sent on special recovery programme due to his loss of form.
There is no specific timeline to when Sancho will return as Ten Hag kept answering no to questions about him.
