Prior to the termination, Ronaldo was desperate to leave the club as he sought to play in the UEFA Champions League. His agent spoke to many clubs about a move for the player, but none materialized.

A move to the Bundesliga?

As noted by TalkSport, Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed that they were also offered the chance to sign the Portuguese star.

"He was even offered to us,” executive board member Axel Hellman said.

The chairman of the club's supervisory board added that he had a feeling Ronaldo was offered to every club playing in the Champions League.

Only one offer for Ronaldo

Despite his agent's efforts to get a new club to sign him, Ronaldo was forced to play Europa League football until his contract was terminated with United.

As a free agent, only one club has made an offer for him. As reported by AS, the Saudi Pro League side, Al Nassr, are the only team that have formally put in a bid for Ronaldo's services.

He would earn an annual salary of just under €200 million if he accepted the offer. The move, though lucrative, would mean giving up playing in Europe. Ronaldo has yet to make a decision on his future.

Hasan Salihamidžić explains that Bayern Munich's board voted against signing Cristiano Ronaldo

Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director, Hasan Salihamidžić, has explained why the club didn’t try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar was linked with a move to the Bundesliga champions when he first announced that he wanted to leave Manchester United in the current transfer window.

Salihamidžić explained that signing Ronaldo was discussed but that the club's board voted against the decision, Sports Brief earlier reported.
