Morocco's success at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is just the springboard African football needed.
The Atlas Lions became the first African team since 1934 - Africa's opening bow in the tournament - to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
The significance of this achievement was not lost on the President of CAF, Patrice Motsepe.
According to TimesLIVE, the South African hoped for an African winner in the near future by saying:

“The 54 African countries who are members of Caf, are extremely proud and inspired by the victories and successes of the five African Nations that represented Caf at the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022."
Motsepe said CAF was particularly proud of the Atlas Lions for their historic journey to the World Cup semi-finals.
It is the first time in the history of the World Cup that an African nation has qualified for the semi-finals. Our objective of ensuring that an African nation wins the World Cup is alive and within reach.”

South Africa has put itself forward to potentially host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The news comes in the wake of Guinea being stripped of the rights to host the tournament.
This was confirmed by IOL after communication from the South African Football Association, through its president Danny Jordaan, Sports Brief reported.
