- Stephan El Shaarawy has now urged 'the Special One' focus his efforts on the Serie A giants
Jose Mourinho unexpectedly took over the vacant managerial position at AS Roma ahead of the delayed Euro 2021, replacing fellow Portuguese manager Paulo Fonseca.
He broke the club's 14-year trophy drought in his first season by lifting the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League, beating Feyenoord 1-0 in the final, thus becoming the first manager to have lifted all three European club titles.
In his second season at the Italian capital, he is now attracting offers from his home country Portugal to take the vacant managerial role, after Fernando Santos was sacked due to the disastrous World Cup outing.
The role is being offered to Mourinho on a part-time basis and according to The Telegraph, he is considering answering the call of his country but remains unsure whether to stay at or quit Roma.

Tearful Ronaldo departs with World Cup dream in tatters
Football''He is always present in every situation. Even in the way he talks to us in the locker room, in the match, in giving us the right indications. We see him serene, he is a person of the heart, instinctive, so the important thing for him now, I think, is Roma."
Ancelotti: Mourinho is the greatest
Sports Brief earlier reported that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti hailed Mourinho as the greatest manager of them all, while asserting that so-called outdated tactics are still current.
Ancelotti and Mourinho are good friends and belong to the same era of coaches. As managers, they are winners in every country they have worked in.
It is not the first time the Special One has been linked to a national team managerial job, having being linked to Portugal and England in the past.
