How the Egyptian fan died

The Egyptian fan, identified as Mostafa Abdel Aal, reportedly watched the final in a coffee shop in the center of the Egyptian capital with his friends.

The overly-excited 26-year-old posted a message on social media praising Paris Saint Germain star Lionel Messi who scored twice against France.

In the young man's post, he expressed that Argentina's victory over the World Cup holders was "the best day of his life."

But per Spanish media outlet Marca, Abdel Aal collapsed immediately after the post as he suffered a heart attack and was taken to a nearby hospital.

He was reported dead on arrival as a result of "happy heart syndrome," a rare heart condition that can develop in cases of "immense happiness," according to Shaaban, who served as former director of the Egyptian National Institute of Cardiology.

What is happy heart syndrome?

A study published in Harvard Health Publishing ensures that in some cases stress cardiomyopathy can occur not only for sad reasons, but also for feelings of extreme joy”. This is what is known as happy heart syndrome or takotsubo syndrome.

Huge crowd receives Argentina players

Hundreds of thousands of fans have flooded the streets of Buenos Aires to welcome players of the national team following their World Cup triumph.

Sports Brief reported that the Argentina national team arrived in the country in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The team led by talismanic forward and captain Lionel Messi became world champions after beating France in the finals on Sunday.
