France’s success at the 2022 FIFA World Cup could be set to cost Zinedine Zidane the opportunity to coach the two-time world champions.
Zidane, who is a top contender for the France job, had been widely tipped to replace Didier Deschamps at the helm after the 2022 World Cup.
According to Football Espana, Deschamps is now likely to continue as France manager until 2026, after once again impressing with the national team by guiding them to the World Cup final.
The current manager will meet with French Football Federation President, Noel Le Graet in early January to discuss his future, but the feeling is he will continue in the post now.

Zidane has been out of a job since leaving Real Madrid during the 2020/21 season and is now ready to return to full-time management.
Zidane changes stance on return
Meanwhile, Zidane is allegedly open to a return to club management, with Deschamps expected to extend his reign as France manager, Daily Mirror reports.
The ex-France midfielder has already rejected approaches from Manchester United, as he gauges his interest in a return to the dugout.
Zidane won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid in three consecutive seasons and is now ready to return to management again.
