A former coach of the Super Eagles, Philippe Troussier, has revealed how the Nigeria Football Federation failed to pay him for three months.

The tactician, who was appointed in 1997 midway through the qualifiers for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, was later replaced by Bora Milutinovic.

In a recent chat with Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Troussier disclosed that he had to report the matter to the former president of FIFA Sepp Blatter.

“Before I left the Super Eagles [in 1997] I was unpaid by the NFF for three months. Burkina Faso’s President (Blaise Campaore) called me to handle their team for the 1998 AFCON. I called Sepp Blatter, to get FIFA’s okay. And I left.”

Rohr cries out over unpaid salaries

Meanwhile, former coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has told the Nigeria Football Federation to pay him his outstanding salary.

The Franco-German tactician urged the football house to pay him with interest along with the current dollar rate following their delay in making the payment.

Gernot Rohr lost his position as the Super Eagles coach in December 2021, just a month before the African Cup of Nations was held in Cameroon.

Rohr was said to have reported to the NFF to FIFA that they have not been paying him which the football body then ruled that he must be paid.

Amokachi blasts NFF

Sports Brief earlier reported that a former Nigerian international, Daniel Amokachi, has lambasted the Nigerian Football Federation as he rallies support for Coach Jose Peseiro.

‘The Bull’ was particularly disappointed by the Super Eagles following their embarrassing 4-0 loss to World Cup-bound Portugal in an international friendly.

Amokachi attributed the Super Eagles' current woes to the wrong coaches' appointment to handle the team.
