  • Carlo Ancelotti has finally lifted the lid about reports linking him to the Brazil coaching role
  • Despite an illustrious coaching career across Europe, he has never managed a national team
  • A Brazil legend previous urged his country's FA to appoint a foreign manager in the position

Carlo Ancelotti has finally responded to reports linking him to the now-vacant Brazil head coach role.

Following Brazil's shock exit from the 2022 World Cup at the quarter-final stage, which led to the resignation of Tite, Ancelotti has been rumoured as an ideal candidate for the role.

The serial winner is currently attached to Real Madrid until next year, and it will take a mighty strong wind to whisk him away from the Spanish capital.

Despite his ties with Real Madrid, the 56-year-old tactician has refused to rule out a chance of taking up a role as boss of the Samba Boys.

“Training Brazil? I don’t know what will happen in the future. I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2024 and if I don’t get kicked, I’m not leaving,” Ancelotti said via MadridXtra.

Meanwhile, the Brazil Football Federation (CBF) have disclosed that Tite's successor will only be announced in January 2023.

Tite exits Brazil coaching role

Tite confirmed that it was the 'end of a cycle' for him as coach, after Brazil were dumped out of the World Cup in the quarter-finals on penalties by Croatia.

The 61-year-old, who has been in charge since 2016, had previously made it no secret that he would leave the position after the tournament in Qatar - regardless of the outcome.

"It is a painful defeat, but I go in peace..." he told reporters after the Selecao's dramatic exit from the competition.

Ronaldo backs Ancelotti for Brazil

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ronaldo Nazario wants a foreign coach to be hired by Brazil's football association, naming Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho as his top picks.

Ronaldo's comments came days after the Selecao crashed out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, losing their quarter-final clash against Croatia in a painful result.

According to the report by ESPN, the Brazilian legend said he would love to see a coach appointed from outside the South American country.
