With the respective leagues looking to make up for the World Cup break, many clubs are in for a congested fixture list.
La Liga champions Real Madrid probably face the toughest task ahead, as the Spanish giants compete across three tournaments during the month of January, Football Espana reported.
Before that happens, though, Los Blancos return to league action with a trip to Real Valladolid on December 30, their last game of the calendar year.

On Copa del Rey duty
Madrid’s first test of the new year comes over the weekend of January 3 to January 5, as they compete in the third round of the Copa del Rey. Madrid could feature in the tournament a further two times in January if they aren’t knocked out.
Three La Liga fixtures
Madrid’s 2023 La Liga campaign sees them travel to Villarreal on January 7, before taking on Athletic Club Bilbao on January 22. Their final league game in January sees them welcome Real Sociedad to the Santiago Bernabéu on the 29th, Sky Sports reported.
Supercopa in Saudi Arabia
Finally, Madrid also has to contend with competing in the Spanish Supercopa. The tournament will be hosted in Saudi Arabia, and see Real take on Valencia on January 11, AS reported.

Morocco to host Club World Cup in February, expanded event to start in 2025
Morocco will host the next Club World Cup in February, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced on Friday, while the planned expanded version of the competition is now set to start in 2025.
The tournament will take place from February 1 to 11, 2023, Infantino told reporters at a press conference in Doha, as it returns to Morocco for the third time.
Real Madrid, who won the 2014 Club World Cup in Morocco, will represent Europe after winning last season's UEFA Champions League.
