The Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup ended in the most historic way for Lionel Messi, Argentina and everyone associated with them yesterday at the Lusail stadium.

The internet was filled with messages of celebrations and acknowledgement of greatness particularly for Lionel Messi whose career was capped with a moment he has been dreaming of.

Amongst the joy and euphoria that filled the air, Lionel Messi and his friend and former teammate Luis Suarez shared a passionate moment that showcased the two's love and respect for each other.

Suarez and Uruguay crashed out of the World Cup at the group stages in what was the former Barcelona man's last FIFA World Cup, but he kept supporting his friend.

All love between Messi and Suarez

The two South American football greats enjoyed a remarkable career and spent good times together at Barcelona where they won everything alongside fellow South American Neymar Jr.

Their friendship deepens and it spreads to their wives and children, they've been pictured many times enjoying family time together.

Suarez took to Instagram to share a post congratulating Messi; he captioned a picture of Messi holding the trophy with comments of him being the best regardless of what anyone says.

The 2011 Copa America winner who is back home in Uruguay after the World Cup elimination later shared on his Instagram story a screenshot of a video call between him and Messi.

Drury comments on GOAT debate

British commentator Peter Drury who is well known for his poetic commentaries on the Premier League and UEFA Champions League came through yet again yesterday.

As Sports Brief earlier reported, Drury declared Messi as the GOAT but said those who want to continue the debate can rage on.

The debate for who is the greatest between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has stayed through their careers but Argentina winning the World Cup ends all doubts.
