The Qatar 2022 World Cup is arguably regarded as the best World Cup tournament ever played following the numerous records that have been broken in the competition.

The tournament which was eventually won by Argentina after they defeated defending champions France in the final via penalties, set the record for the most goals scored in a FIFA World Cup.

According to 90MIN, the tournament in Qatar recorded a stunning 172 goals scored in the 64 games played in the competition including 6 thrilling goals in the final.

The highest scoring game of the tournament was Spain's thrashing 7-0 victory against Costa Rica, with games averaging 2.7 goals per game.

The competition in Qatar overtook the record of 171 goals scored previously set jointly in 1998 when France hosted the World Cup and in 2014 when Germany was the host.

Meanwhile, Google search recorded its "highest ever traffic in 25 years" during FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France, NDTV reports.

Google CEO, Sundar Pichai confirmed the company’s latest achievement in a tweet after he insinuated the entire world seems to be watching the World Cup final in Qatar.

Argentina defeated France 4-2 via penalties after both teams had played an entertaining 3-3 draw after extra-time to lift the country’s third World Cup title.
